Community

A committed community supporter

The Coco Group is committed to supporting grassroots teams and organisations. A sample of
Coco Group’s community involvement is outlined below.

The Coco Group – Supporting The Sydney Spiders

Recently, The Coco Group supported a select side from a range of the Sydney Premiership clubs to compete in the International Club Division of the Dubai 7s tournament, taking place from 1-3 December. This was a high quality event where we will be playing National sides from France, The British and Irish Lions, Russia, as well as many other strong representative sides from all over the world. The Spiders are a team program providing opportunities to young aspiring players in Sydney Australia with an opportunity to experience national and international competition to further enhance their experiences and development. Player development extends beyond the playing field in the Sydney Spiders program, with the genuine intent to assist players in business and life as well as in rugby. The Coco Group are proud to be behind the growth and development of The Sydney Spiders..

Powerco JLTFZ – Dubai Wasps Rugby Union Club

The Coco Group, through Powerco JLTFZ, is pleased to sponsor the Dubai Wasps Rugby
Union Club to support the ‘local’ rugby playing community. The Dubai Wasps have more
Emiratis playing than any other UAE club and their junior development programme is very
effective. Trevor Leota (former Samoan Hooker) is the current President and is a shining
example of rugby being played with the right attitude – fair and hard.

Past Beneficiaries

Kendal Rugby Union Football Club

Barwick Wines and the Coco Group were proud to support grassroots rugby in Kendal, UK.
Kendal is a market town on the edge of the Lake District, and rugby has been played in this
town since the 1870s. The present club, known as The Black and Ambers, was formed in
August, 1905 and moved to its present site in the north of the town in 1925.

Emirates Western Force

Barwick Wines, part of the Coco Group, were proud to be the Official and Exclusive Wine
Sponsor of the Emirates Western Force for the 2008/09 seasons.

The Emirates Western Force compete in the Super 15 – the toughest, most exciting provincial
rugby competition in the world. With Barwick Wines’ support, RugbyWA and the Emirates
Western Force operated at a professional and elite level in the marketplace and on the ground.

Pacific Islanders Rugby Union

The Sports Hydrant and the Coco Group pride themselves on providing a voice for the
community, and the Rugby community is no doubt better represented than our friends from the
Pacific Island. Pacific Islanders Rugby (the PI’s) team embarked on its second tour of the
Northern hemisphere in November 2008, with the Sports Hydrant as their naming rights
sponsor. They played three Tests against England, France and Italy, and in the final match of
the tour against Italy the PI’s claimed their first ever Test victory. The PI’s play entertaining,
spontaneous rugby and they’re the best possible advert for the Pacific Islands.
